About Hospice

Hospice is a specialized type of care

A care based on the philosophy of treating the patient rather than the disease. It focuses on quality of life by surrounding the patient and their family with a team of professionals who provide physical comfort, as well as emotional and spiritual support. We are dedicated to giving our patients' a pain free, peaceful, and comfortable life to make the most of every minute. Because each patient is unique, we tailor our care to meet individual patient’s needs.

Who is eligible for hospice benefits?

Hospice is for people who have a life limiting illness such as cancer, advanced heart/lung/liver/kidney disease, and neurologic diseases such as Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease). Hospice comfort care measures are especially beneficial to minimize symptoms that may be affecting quality of life such as pain, shortness of breath, nausea, constipation, depression, anxiety, or insomnia.

Where is hospice provided and what are the levels of care of hospice?

Routine Homecare is provided in the comfort of wherever you call home, whether that be at your home, assisted living facility, personal care home or nursing home. Our professional team will develope an individual plan of care and schedule regular home visits to ensure that your medical, social and emotional needs are met.

Inpatient Care or Continuous Care is available for symptoms that are temporarily difficult to be managed by the caregiver. In those situations short term management can occur in a general inpatient unit (hospital like setting), or by around the clock home care. After the symptoms are brought under control the patient is returned to routine care.

Respite Care is available when caregivers need a rest from their responsibilities. The patient can stay in a facility with 24 hour nursing care for five days.

Who pays for hospice?

Medicare covers hospice care at 100%. Medicaid and many private insurance companies may also cover hospice. We will work with you on an individual basis to help pay for hospice benefits.
